Our wild card system is not working and neither is our goofy scholarship system. Why not just get rid of it. Maybe the USTA can think about what else to do with their money and the 500+ wild cards to our boys and and 500+ wild cards to our girls. How about just give the CEO's more so they can buy bigger Mercedes and houses as this actually would do our players more good. Why can't the US get it. Money and wild cards do not make us more successful. Make us learn how to fish, not just give us fish (1:Brainius Chapter:5ius).
Look at the 2006 Australian Open Main Draw. Twenty-four players are from Russia and the former Soviet Union. Eleven (count them 11 players!!!!!) are from the US and from those eleven, 6 are over 25 years of age and there is one teenager--Jamea Jackson (turns 20 in September). Now you can blame the Age Eligibility Rule for that, and guess what, that rule was instigated by the USTA and the ITF in trying to shut down Eastern Europe from total domination of tennis as well as perpetrate their own programs (USTA Junior Wild Card System and the ITF World Juniors) as the Eastern Europeans were the only ones interested in playing a full pro schedule when they were 13 years old, certainly not the US player as they are too hung up in getting a scholarship and believing they could still play pro tennis later while having wild cards handed to them right and left. Who could concentrate, who could dream with so many distractions, full of the crap we call American tennis! And the parents, putting their children in tennis (with the goofy USPTA worker bees thinking they are promoting tennis--what a disgrace, glorified daycare) just to save them MONEY on the stupid scholarship pursuit. What a farce and a waste made in America! And the ultimate irony, the Russians and Eastern Europeans come and clean out the scholarships as well!!!!! Serves us right! Why? Because coaches what to win! What a novel concept. Instead we hear complaints from whiney US boys and girls and their parents who don't get their mansy pansy scholarship. Who cares, just get rid of it as it does not help our players!!!
Remember the good old days when Graf, Seles, Hingis and yes Capriati burst on the scene as teenagers. I would love to have those days back again, free from the tyrannical rule of the Age Eligibility Rule. Over indulged Americans would just have to buck up! But what is wrong with that? It is long overdue! Remember a player who is 14 can play an unlimited amount of 128 Qualies or whatever Qualie she can get into, but as soon as she starts getting points, she has to stop at 7 events. Now, you tell me who are they protecting? Private IMG interests and the promotion of the general shutdown of Eastern Europe who would love to play when they decide to play and get some money even if they are not Sharapova cute and bankrolled by IMG. Now what is so wrong with that? Starting at the bottom is never ever beneath them! We can learn a lot from them.
Please start now and kill those $$#%%$$%%! wild cards to US players. Americans! who want to make it on your own: turn them down for your own good. And get rid of the scholarship system as well as it only creates those $$%%^##@! debutantes on tour with inflated rankings. And get rid of the Age Eligibility Rule. It will save American tennis and not keep on confusing our true players. True competition is the best!!!! Not spoiled brat welfare and empty promises of what the USTA can do for you!!! Nobody asked, nobody wants any help like that if it ruins your chances to truly make it or at least have the chance to try. Get your own points, start at the bottom and EARN YOUR OWN WAY. Whoever said you need "help."
USTA: If you want to truly help stop babying our players and put a sophisticated prize money circuit in place like what they have in France and let our players earn their own money to help pay for their careers. And yes, the foreigners will come, just like they do in France, BUT SO WHAT!!!! You want to be good in tennis? You have to beat EVERYBODY!!!! Get your ##$$%%$## welfare out of our faces. Enough is enough!!!!! Who are you kidding? You are killing our spirit. How dare you!!!!!! And besides if you are studying at a University, just how many classes and labs can you miss while you are galavanting around with some debutante or fratty boys or girls playing for some glorified dumb school team????? WHO NEEDS THIS?????? Waste of time and money. You want to be a tennis player, go be one. You want to study??? Go do that! But unfortunately it is better you get out of the US to play real competition where they have real prize money circuits and a decent mentality so you are free to compete. Forget this place!!! What a joke. What a screwed up mess!!!
